2009 Scholarship Benefit
On November 5, 2009 the Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund (APIASF) celebrated its Fourth Annual Today's Minds, Tomorrow's Future® Scholarship Benefit at the Hilton New York.
This year, APIASF honored Walmart, DLA Piper and AT&T, Inc. for their strong commitment to diverse communities, extensive contributions to the field of education and broad support of APIASF. Award winners included: Don T. Nakanishi, Ph.D., Former Director and Professor, Asian American Studies Center, University of California, Los Angeles; Eduardo Castro-Wright, Vice Chairman, Walmart; Francis B. Burch, Jr., Partner, Global Chairman and Co-Chairman U.S., DLA Piper LLP (US); and Cindy Brinkley, AT&T Senior Vice President - Talent Development and Chief Diversity Officer, AT&T, Inc. We congratulate them for their commitment to diversity and their support of APIASF's mission.
The Scholarship Benefit raised nearly $550,000 to help APIASF continue to improve the lives of Asian and Pacific Islander American students by providing them with resources that increase access to higher education and serve as the foundation for their future success and contributions to a stronger America.
