Student Travel Grants to Attend APIASF Higher Education Summit
Washington, D.C., June 20, 2012

Southwest Airlines

APIASF is excited to offer a select number of travel grants for Scholars wishing to attend our Higher Education Summit taking place on June 20, 2012 in Washington, D.C. These travel grants are possible through the generous support of Southwest Airlines, a proud sponsor of APIASF and the official airline of the APIASF Higher Education Summit.

Organized into a series of presentations, panels, and roundtable discussions, the 2012 APIASF Higher Education Summit, titled Advancing the Democratic Mission of Higher Education: The Relevance of Asian Americans & Pacific Islanders, will shed light on national data outlining the demography of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the U.S. and its impact on educational policies, institutions, and students. Panels and roundtable discussions will highlight the collaborative potential between Asian American Native American Pacific Islander-serving institutions (AANAPISIs) and other minority-serving institutions (MSIs), best practices gleaned from MSIs to facilitate student success, strategy recommendations for AANAPISI grant sustainability at the institutional and federal levels, and outstanding needs and challenges experienced by institutions that serve the AAPI population, including AANAPISIs. The forum will conclude with a special reception hosted by APIASF and will be attended by key leaders in the education, policy, non-profit, private and public sectors. This is a great opportunity for APIASF and AAPI GMS scholarship recipients interested in the fields of education, policy, and government to dialogue and engage with key leaders about issues facing today's Asian American and Pacific Islander students.
