APIASF Scholarships

All applicants must complete and submit the APIASF Scholarship application before being considered for any other scholarship.

APIASF/United Health Foundation Asian Health Scholarship

Due Date: January 25, 2010
Award: $5,000 (Distributed over two years at $2,500 each).
Eligibility Requirements:

Be of Asian and/or Pacific Islander ethnicity as defined by the U.S. Census

Be a citizen, national or legal permanent resident of the United States. Citizens of the Freely Associated States may apply

Be enrolling in a U.S. accredited college or university as a full-time, degree-seeking, first-year student in the upcoming academic year. (Applicants enrolling in a 2 year community or junior college must have the intention to transfer to a 4 year college)

Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale (unweighted) or have earned a GED

Must plan to pursue a degree in a major that will lead to a career in the health field.

Must have fluency in an Asian or Pacific Islander language

Must demonstrate the intent to work in an underserved community

Preference for applicants who reside or will attend college in Texas, Illinois, California, New York and New Jersey

Additional essay question:

In 250 words or less, please describe how your fluency in an Asian and/or Pacific Islander language will enhance your ability to help an underserved community as a health care professional.
